2018 Strong Like Bull Camp
February 25, 2018 - March 11, 2018| $2000
Strong Like Bull Camps, now in its 13th year, is a rare mix of professional and non-professional athletes that come together to explore and challenge themselves against the stunning scenery and warm countryside of Southern Spain while escaping winter. Fully supported with coaches, follow vans, and nutrition experts, this camp allows for both the novice and experienced athlete to enjoy and challenge themselves with 7 days of excellent training mixed with cultural, and social events while living in a 17th century Spanish villa.
The idea behind this trip is to bring together athletes to explore the quiet and mountainous regions of south central Spain. There, the Spanish sun and challenging mountainous terrain will reawaken, strengthen and warm you. Building fitness for fun and competition in 2018 is only one benefit: the unbelievable riding, amazing scenery, great food, and great people will be an experience you won’t easily forget! With much better weather than February and March in the states, and a dedicated 7 days to training, you’re sure to get stronger and faster and have fun in the process.
There are 2 trips going for 7 days each:
Camp 1: Sunday 2/25/2018 – Sunday 3/4/2018 (**Plan to fly from USA 2/24/18**)
Camp 2: Sunday 3/4/2018 – Sunday 3/11/2018 (**Plan to fly from USA 3/3/18**)
Sign up with Team Continuum for either camp. You can specify which camp when you register.
The cortijo (compound) where we’ll be staying is historic, charming, spacious, and allows for bedrooms away from the action but also a great deal of common space for people to hang out, watch sports, eat, drink and tell tales of the day’s adventures. We are located in a valley right in the Spanish Sierra Nevada mountain range and near a large town – Antequera – allowing for shopping, swimming at the swim center, and maybe even a night out or two if you can manage to not fall asleep from the day’s training.
This is a training trip with a major focus on riding with various challenging climbs. Each day will feature rides between 4 and 6 hours long, always with various shorter possibilities as well, and each day features a different route. Pace is base pace and mild tempo for the most part with athletes able to do their own training on the climbs as well as during the rides.
The days typically unfold like this:
8:30 am yoga/core/swim or run
10:30 ride start
4pm ride ends
5-7 recovery; relaxation; massage
9pm movie/ hanging out
Each ride is fully supported with a follow car containing a tool kit, floor pump, any extra clothes you’d want to pack, snacks, and lunch!
We’ll also do 3 ‘special trips’:
1) A day trip to go climb the ‘Pico de Vuelta’, a 3500m climb. This climb is often used in the Vuelta de Espana.
2) A day trip to Granada to visit the Alhambra, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, or its famous Moorish Batha OR a trip to Malaga to explore this dynamic and fun city (Cost of entry to historic sites not included).
3) An evening trip to a nearby village for dinner; to enjoy some local fare or a meal out in one of the cities (cost of meal not included).
The fundraising commitment for this incredible experience is $2000. This will provide you with a double occupancy room, all meals, all transportation for ‘special trips’, daily follow car and pick-up/drop-off from Malaga airport and pro level coaching for swim, bike and run sessions. Airfare is not included in this price.
