Let me give you a quick back story. My best friend, Darragh Nelson, of 33 years was diagnosed 2 years ago to the day with Extraskeletal Myxoid Chondrosarcoma which is a sarcoma that effects less than one in a million people. And for a country like Ireland, with a population of less than 5 million people, there is very little expertise here.
In the 2 years he has had sarcoma, he has had three separate set backs, after an operation, radiotherapy and chemotherapy all not working today he flies to MD Anderson in Texas for one last chance.
In 2022, I organised a charity Irish football game which raised over €30,000 for a charity called Sarcoma Cancer Ireland, a charity close to Darragh and his young family’s heart. And recently I ran the 2023 Dublin City Marathon which raised over €10,000 for the same charity. (Photos attached)
Next year, myself and Bevin would love to run for your charity in a city where I have close family. Considering myself and Bevin met at Darragh’s wedding 3 years ago. If there are places still available I would love a call with you guys and organise a spot for both of us.
