I’m running the NYC Marathon this year as a proud member of Team Continuum, and I want to share why this means so much to me.
I’m running in memory of my mom who lost her battle to cancer. Watching someone who feels like your entire world fight so hard, and still having to say goodbye, is something that never leaves you. But neither does their strength. My mom faced her illness with courage, resilience, and positivity — and it’s that same spirit I’ll be carrying with me every step of the marathon.
I chose to run with Team Continuum because they provide immediate financial assistance to cancer patients and their families, helping with everyday living expenses like rent, utilities, and groceries. When someone is battling cancer, the last thing they should have to worry about is how to pay the bills. Team Continuum steps in during those critical moments, offering relief and dignity when it’s needed most.
Training for this marathon is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done — but it’s nothing compared to what cancer patients endure every day. On race day, when the miles feel long and my legs feel heavy, I’ll think of my mom and of the families who are in the middle of their own fight right now.
